Every other man in my family served in the military, from my uncle horrendously wounded in a B-17 over Germany, to my half-brother Grant, a Green Beret Vietnam underwater demo expert who once set a free-fall multiple parachute jump record over Belgium.
I stand by their advice to this day:
Don't join the Army.
