Not a Great Spirit

Brunel, the soul-crushing avatar of the industrial revolution, mistakenly honored here.

What is this?

One of those overlooked parts of the industrial revolution was the decline in physical stature and health of large segments of the population over the pre-industrial period. Most unrich people in 1900 were smaller and shorter than in pre-industrial periods, apparantly due to reduced access to nutrition.

My suspicion is that current technologies will create a similiar vast social stratification based on the combination of limited access to health care, and, to the hear the propoents slobbering over the prospects of boosting individuals with genetic and technological enhancements in a market environment, the proliferation of a kind of boutique eugenics.

And we need only look to any instance in history of one group merely believing in their own superiority to guess the consequences, when the superiority can be purchased.
