Let's Go Back to Black and White Rocks

Nicely specific analysis of the Diebolt voting machines, with a serious security problem coming through the possible misuse of smart cards.

I'm not impressed with his analysis. He writes, "Anyone with a little technical savvy and understanding of Microsoft Windows could likely, in an afternoon, google all the information necessary to plan this type of attack." This is, first of all, an overstatement, and he could have used the same resources to figure out how to prevent such an attack by digitally signing the smart cards. Now, had he posited that the smart cards are not digitally signed or lacked any (really obvious to an actual computer scientist) authentication mechanism, then he would have more credibility with me.
