Golden

Seattle sports press strike Gold as Seahawks take Golden Domer Golden Tate in second round of NFL draft.

I guess you could say Golden had a good year in 2009, averaging 125 yards receiving and 1.25 touchdowns a game against actual competitive college football teams (Notre Dame went 6-6 last year). He toasted Washington for 244 and a TD. He scored two touchdowns against his new coach's Trojans (in a loss). I did the arithmetic, and if you had him in Yahoo! fantasy football, he would have averaged 21.5 points a game.

Tate has put the NFL on notice: "NO MARCHING BAND IS SAFE IN A STADIUM WHERE I AM PLAYING."

Below is a highlight reel for your enjoyment. Especially, enjoy the fact that he won't be playing for Notre Dame, anymore.

That's a good question. I think it comes down to: this is a crappy year to pick a QB in the first round.

Next year, there will be a rookie salary cap. This has forced a glut of top-level talent into the draft, except for quarterbacks. Starting next year, QBs will be less of a risk, motivating teams (like, say, the Seahawks) to defer taking a die roll on one until it will cost less. I read that, as a top 10 pick (where he would have gone in previous years), Clausen could expect $22-million in guaranteed money. Now, he'll get a tenth of that.

Pity the poor Rams. Likely the final team to suffer the "loser's curse" of taking a quarterback #1 in the draft and pay through the nose for it. I'm not psychic, but I don't think Sam Bradford is Peyton Manning, or even in the same solar system.

They must really be kicking themselves because they could have had Ndamukong Suh and Jimmy Clausen, or even, maybe Sam Bradford in the 2nd round.
