The game doesn't need you

No-Person Shooter?

I've noticed this trend in these games. In Battlefied 2: Bad Company, many of the encounters were trying to figure out which one guy my squad needed me to shoot to advance to the next area. Sounds like this game is even more realistic!

Reminds me of a WWI role playing game I designed called "Over the top, boys!"

You would spend hours developing your characters skills, stats and backstory.

Once that was complete, gameplay consisted of leading a massed charge to storm enemy lines across No Man's Land.

GM would repeatedly roll a d6. If he rolled a 1, you died. If he rolled a 2 you were wounded and died slowly. If he rolled a 3 there was a gas attack and all characters died.

GM continues to roll dice until all characters are dead.

Not to toot my own horn, but I think it was the most gripping and realistic portrayal of WWI trench warfare ever.

EXCELLENT.

When we were fooling around with that Rokugan game, I was trying to think of a way to capture the intrinsic fatalism of eastern warrior traditions.

My idea was to make it extremely easy for characters to die, but to allow players to roll up a new character immediately, maybe one level lower. This would maximize the funnest part of the game which is, let's face it, rolling up characters.

I think the birth of my son prevented further development, but I still think it would be a cool idea.
