Goya recoiled in horror at his subject, Nedrum dwells.
Here's where we discuss the skilled and interesting and most likely evil painter Odd Nerdrum, in a compelling informal essay that is one of the better riffs on art and morality I've seen recently. It begins with Odd Nerdrum's awkward hitler-love.

Ew.
Thanks for your kind words. Q: how on Earth did you even find this post? I wrote it a long time ago, and yet, it is still frequently read, far out of proportion with the number of people googling "Odd Nerdrum Hitler."
Hi Sea Lord! Just thought I'd check back - since the old comment isn't up, I'm guessing this isn't a bad medium for going ahead and writing you a personal note. I wanted to apologize if I said something before that offended you. I really appreciate your linking that post, and your generous description of it.
Have a great weekend -
Daniel
Hey daniel,
Sorry, this got lost in moderated comments and I just found it!
I'm a painter and instructor (Jamie Bollenbach), and I was looking for a Nerdrum image for an "Art" page I do on Facebook, and I stumbled across your article from an image search for his work. I got some good feedback from that post as well.
Pleased indeed to have your comments here.
Jamie! I just now remembered to check back and see whatever happened - thanks for the explanation and very cool work (I had to google you, of course). Thanks again for the kind words; I'm very glad you enjoyed the post. I'd be honored if you dropped by the blog once in a while - my most current posts are about pictorial space in Egyptian wall painting, and what it's like to have Jerry Saltz slam your work. I hope all is well with you and your painting and classes are going great.
Best,
Daniel
