I'm going to guess: Filmore. (Was he Zachary Taylor's VP?)
Give the man a cigar. Came up today because someone at the conference said the modern GOP was trying to "bring back Whiggery." Fillmore would fit right in, I think, though maybe a bit soft on the race issue.
Whiggery was, of course, once the liberal cause, long long ago. What they brought back was Know-Nothingsism.
FSL is right. Lincoln's Republican party was a reformation of the Whig party (which was, itself, a reformation of the Federalist party).
