So, your point is that Donald Trump won't be denied the Republican nomination because of a shadowy conspiracy of party elites, but because he's not very popular with voters?
1) Trump wins over blue collar vote, which is 30-40% of GOP.
2) In the early going he wins easy because the other candidates are losing big to him in that one demographic and splitting the rest of the field.
3) Smoking man move #1: get Bush and Rubio out of the race. Now Trump is winning elections, but Cruz+Kasich are comparable. It's close, but Trump probably doesn't get enough delegates to win on the first ballot at the convention.
4) Smoking man move #2: turn on the attack machine. Trump can dish it out, but he can't take it, can't counterattack effectively against PAC-sponsored stuff (no one to mock/vilify). Trump loses momentum, looks like a fading star as convention approaches.
5) Smoking man move #3: ???
Only problem now is that Cruz is not a good boy, Kasich apparently not ready. But Kasich is the right man, so both Trump and Cruz will have to go. My best guess is that both Trump and Cruz get torpedoed over personal stuff. Winning by default won't be pretty, but nothing's been pretty about this so far, and if Kasich wins the Party at least keeps up appearances.

DOUBLE CONSPIRACY! Mind blown.
Here is my conspiracy narrative:
1) Trump wins over blue collar vote, which is 30-40% of GOP.
2) In the early going he wins easy because the other candidates are losing big to him in that one demographic and splitting the rest of the field.

So who's the Smoking Man working for? The Clintons?
The truth is out there...
