I don't recall even the Enterprise discovering 100 planets more or less all at once like that.
I hate to put it like this, but something like the Hubble is worth some risk to people willing to take that risk. Planets, we are begining to realize, are common. On reflection, this actually might be the best news from science, ever.

Here's my beef: if the shuttle is too dangerous to take people to work on the Hubble, then it's too dangerous, period.
But I reached that conclusion almost 20 years ago.
