Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!
Translated: "Happy New Year!"
Me and M are in the airport now, waiting for our flight to Maui. Had a smokey (and drinky, actually) New Year's Eve, as fireworks are (believe it or not) NOT illegal here in Honolulu. Every street was thick with smoke and lit up with firecrackers.
We've been waiting for the "big storm" since Thursday, but it finally arrived this morning. Luckily, it's not only late, it's also not very big.
We've had a reasonably nice time so far, but I have to say that I don't feel the need to ever visit Waikiki again in my lifetime. It's just too crowded and too expensive. You can have a good time there, but it just isn't easy to have a good time there. Maybe it'll be easier on Maui. (And I'm still very curious about Moloaka'i.)
