America Wakes Up

One measure of the president's political problems is that by 64 to 32 percent, virtually a two-to-one majority, many people believe that the Bush administration "generally misleads the public on current issues to achieve their own ends."

That's more or less "It." Barring an extraordinary event, trust will not be rebuilt.

It means Bush's domestic agenda, other than slipping evil into treasury bills, is roughly spent, and he's got three long years of zilch coming.

It means the Congress will essentially be setting war policy.

It means the press will challenge them constantly, and that 9/11 deference is gone.

Like a compromised immune system, one emergence of corruption or incompentence will raise another- there is likely to be a large number of criminal proceedings trials that will only grow, feeding on weakness. With pejury enforced, other proceedings are likely to begin as new revelations come in.

Circumstances are begging Democrats to use Trust, Competence and Fairness as the driving force.
