I would say this is less obsession than focused and disciplined curiosity, which is the source of many great things.
I've watched this perhaps 5 or 6 times now. It just makes me happy. To see someone so interested and focused he can barely breathe-it is the stuff of life.
Indeed it is - I love that show, but there's a subtlety. Everyone on that show but Grant is an artist doing science- the endless curiosity here is exactly how I try to teach students. Adam and Kari exhibit their work regularly in serious galleries. I can only envy that energy, but much of that comes from being in a dynamic group, even if it is a tv show.
