I wish I new what really happened. The best hypothesis I can piece together is this:
Leiweke and/or Allen were talking to Holmgren about returning to Seattle last month. Holmgren leaks it to Ruskell (this as in Art Thiel's column), prompting Ruskell to ask if he's going to be retained. Ruskell doesn't like the answer he gets, and resigns (not fired, actually resigns) in a huff. Leiweke thinks/sees Holmgren is trying to manipulate the process, goes to Allen and says "Holmgren fucked us." Leiweke is now doing damage control, part of which is to make it look like he is actually in control of a situation he has lost control of.
Time to watch the Mariners?!
