I don't recall the Flirtmobile
Some blessed soul has preserved '70s Anchorage for us.
(Update: for good or for ill, there's more. Almost enough for your misty-eyed South central Alaska nostalgia needs.)
Further update: I don't recall the "Flirtmobile" because it didn't exist. But neither do I really remember the Artmobile.
I do however recall the construction of the Federal Building in the block on the left.

Wow. Looking at those makes me feel weird.
Wow. Looking at these makes me wish they'd done a '70s cop/detective show based in Anchorage.
Seriously, wow....George Attla, the Palmer Fair...dang. Remember that time when we were children?
I dimly remember some of the locations, some well, and some--more than I care to admit--not at all.
Perhaps old earthquake damage (that wasn't so old in some of these shots) explains it, but I couldn't shake the feeling that the place was falling apart almost as fast as we were building it up.
I don't recall feeling that way when I was young, but then vacant lots were much more unremarkable.
Say, does anyone remember the location of The Alaska Sabre Jet?
The effect on me was the opposite of nostalgia.
Me, too. The feeling it evoked was, "I can't wait to grow up and get the fuck out of this place."
Yup. Not magical. Not at all magical.
I love this shot, though.
