I have several comments:
1) Mitt Romney is the kind of man that will be insisting on being the best judge of quality of his zingers. And it his easy-going, matey style that puts everyone at ease that makes those zingers the old, unstable, oozing sticks of awkward dynamite that they are.
2) I read this story exactly as if I read news that the Titanic was leaving Liverpool as scheduled.
3)Icebergs ahead? All ahead flank!
4) As an astute man once said in response to the appalling Bill Kristol, "I do not think the Republic, Sir, can stand any more of your jokes!"
True. True.
Oh, my version is slightly different:
"This Republic cannot endure any more of your jokes, Sir!"
I made a list of the qualities I think desirable in the Leader of the Free World. "Zingers," albeit a Republican fetish in recent years, did not appear in the top 1,200.
I have "zingers" ranked 1,536, next to "affable", and several hundred places below "generally nice to dogs."
Zingers. Fuck your zingers, man. Save 'em for someone who cares.
