I lost a favorite uncle a couple of years ago in a rather similar way, though less than a week elapsed between onset of symptoms and his passing.
Docs at University Hospital in Seattle performed an extensive autopsy, but never figured out what it was.
He was 64 and had no known enemies. Certainly not Israel. (On the other hand, he was Tlingit, so it might have been a Russian settling an very old score.)
