Beneath the "Nutmeg"

For those who you who've visited Seattle and seen "Nutmeg," my 14' sloop o' no guns, may recall the , stone ramp and little bay on Lake Washington where the giant PBY Catalinas operated in WWII.

One of my students is a marine biologist specializing in octopuses (yes, she avers, it's octopuses), whose sideline is side scanning sonar for locating wrecks. According her there is a nearly perfect sunken PBY immediately off the selfsame ramp 150 feet down, standing, for sixty years now, on its nose.

In accordance with his magesties orders to win fortune for the realm, I hearby dispatch the Sea Lord and crew to raise said PBY or become uncomfortable in the attempt. The civiilian vessel is herby renamed "The R/V (recovery vessel) Nutmeg". We will be dispatching a diving bell and decompression chamber at 5 bells to be installed on the quarterdeck. All leaves are cancelled. Fair winds and following seas be yours! Good luck. Let me know when the PBY is available for rides.

The PBY is joined by at least an Avenger and a Martin seaplane, dozens of large ships, a bunch of cars and a train, at different parts of the Lake.

First Sea Lord is also at pains to remind Her Majesty's Viceroy, per my discretion as supreme commander of all royal forces at sea, that Nutmeg is presently committed to pelt Bill Gates' house with sea-launched water balloons (or SEALWAB, authorized in OPERATION NERDCLAMP), and must most regretfully decline His Most Esteemed Lordship's request.
