Can't you give the poor homophobe a break? He isn't your congressman anymore; he just wants to spend your money.
Meanwhile, on the losing side of that soon-to-be-famous 90-9 vote, Uncle Ted wants to preserve the military's right to torture prisoners.
Look, I am not a nice person and it's my position that if torturing someone in a "smoking gun" (or "flying plane") situation might save innocent lives, I say bring out the cattle prods. The trouble is those situations are extraordinarily rare and the cattle prods probably wouldn't work. Now, if you could stick one on his mother, maybe.
I guess I'd say I'd support torture in exigent circumstances so long as it has a real chance of working and we take good care of the people we charge with applying it. I still wouldn't support Lyndie England with a dog collar because 1. it doesn't work, 2. there aren't exigent circumstances, 3. it's uselessly inflammatory, 4. it's embarrassingly amateurish, 5. we haven't trained or supported the practitioner and 6,7,8,9 and 10 IT DOESN'T WORK. I propose a torture writ: call a judge, bring in a pro, track the results, and put the blame where it belongs: on our incoherent foreign-policy makers and our inept Secretary of Defense.
Oh, and Don Young is stupid and venal and bad.
