The Modern Woman Personified

You may know Britney Spears is very popular in France (I do not link to an article to support this statement, you must believe it because I myself am French).

I am understanding that this is not a Britney Spears blog, it is exchange of views on the merits of modernist architecture. I still will say, however, that the Britney Spears is what we French call "a classy lady," and it is not right of the Fourth Estate to criticize everything she does. In the photograph it is not the question of Britney Spears baby, it is the possibility of the spilling of the Britney Spears drink that is obviously of high concern.

But I must ask what is this facination of the Americans with Britney Spears? She does not sing now, she does not dance, she is just Britney Spears, wife and mother.

I look forward to knowing your opinions of Britney Spears.

I suppose my split with Britney Spears came during the Construction of the Spears tower, when a fresh and not unpleasant young woman, shoved brutally through the culture as a corporate media backed package, turned into the Spears point of a hegemonic empire pushing out and destroying far more innovative, intelligent, beautiful, and honest forms; at the building of over 100 stories, she turned from a small source of fresh style into a shrieking idiot harpie of brutalizing falseness, sterility and conformity, the inert brand plate on the meglomaniacal confidence of corporate supremacism, seeking out and crushing at all opportunities any remnants of competitive cultural forces, building a culture where independence and individual or non-corporate collective experience meant nothing, while this insane over-dominance lasts well into its 90th year, at the tender age of 24. The ubiquitous onslaught bulldozed much of our heritage, left all others scraping crumbs off the floor, singing to $5 cover charges. It didn't matter that occassionally, one of the pieces was significantly less appalling than the others, even catchy. The cost of allowing ideological dominance in aesthetics was far, far too high. Now, overexposed, her cute but never beautiful face turning flaccid, she was unable to lease all the available space to corporate tenants, except to Federline-Douchebag Ltd.

Thank goodness for Frank Gerhry, and Gwen Stefani.
