I hoped that some of our regular contributors might comment on the latest round disasters on Wall Street. (Like McCain, I don't know much about the economy, except that I do know enough not to trust Phil Gramm.)

While we await more in-depth expertise, let me just saw that our financial system is missing more key regulations than the Seahawks are missing wide receivers.

Andrew Sullivan just wiped out any thoughts I was preparing to set down on this subject:
Call me crazy (and they do) but it strikes me that the incumbent party is not likely to do that well when it is presiding over a financial collapse. Unless people are voting entirely on cultural identity. In which case: death to elitists who know something about economics!
And how 'bout that Rossi? This morning, one of my co-workers mentioned that the hurricane affected the MotoGP race in Indianapolis, to which I replied: "They had a MotoGP race in Indianapolis?"
America needs to return to its former glory, when Roberts, Spencer, Lawson, Rainy, and Schwantz won 13 500cc championships in 16 years. We need to break the sleeper hold of this Italian moto-psycho, Rossi!
