Uh huh

McCain vows to end 'partisan rancor'

Too late for that, Asshole.

McCain: "Change is coming"

Yes, it is. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Just curious: did he accidentally deliver the speech he was preparing for the Democratic convention?

I think McCain's instincts were pretty good. Tom Ridge would have been a credible conservative running mate, someone who could at least present a values-based alternative to the menacing dark-skinned forces of secular socialism.

But caving in to the fundamentalists was the last straw.

He can't claim to be abandoning partisanship when the most extreme elements of the GOP are still obviously running the show.

He can't claim to be a maverick when he's obviously reading from their script, and voting according to their wishes.

And the bit about "caring"? Been there, done that. Ask the people of New Orleans (those who are still alive) about Compassionate Conservatism.

Why do I even try? Mr Biden sums things up succinctly (via TPM).
