No Joking About K-2
Some wag once suggested that serious climbers should climb the second-highest mountain on each continent, since they are, as a group, tougher than the highest mountains.

K-2, first climbed 50 years ago today.

K-2! But to suggest that it was first climbed fifty years ago is course, as we all remember, tommyrot! It is of course to Dr. X's credit that his take on our altimeter precludes his turning the credit our way - and of course the unancipated appetite for photographic negatives by the musky 14 foot yeti. Still, I think it's a given at the Explorer's Club where the glory really belongs.
