It is not so much the wounding of his hunting partner that I found apalling, but I was aghast when Cheney tried to wring his partner's neck and stuff him in the game bag.
Actual headlines included:
Cheney hunts quail; everyone else ducks.
Cheney's got a gun.

As a collection of progressives WITH firearms AND bird-hunting experience, we have a special responsiblity to never, ever let the Vice President forget what a dickhead he is, for hunting with a car, for shooting without a bird stamp, for blaming the friend for getting shot based on his non use of a non-existence "hunting protocol," for suggesting adorable "peppering" rather than a shotgun blast that resulted in hospitalization, for shooting a guy wearing an ORANGE VEST in the face, and for neglecting to mention the first vice-presidential gun blast in a couple centuries to the press.
The Smoking Gun (of course) has the report - victim shot in shoulder and face at 30 yards with 28 guage Italian shotgun.
What!? Not even a domestic shotgun?

I didn't read the whole story, so I'm not sure which key hunting rule it was. Perhaps, "Don't shoot the other hunters?"
