Like I was telling friends at a party at the home of an internationally famous Seattle author the other day, I'm no name dropper, but three years ago I was visiting the Hensleys in D.C. on the good graces of my friend and their daughter Priscilla, and because Willie, suffering from 30 years of cognitive dissonance working with various corporations, now represented the right-wing and politics was fairly off limits, he was telling us some of these very stories about growing up in Nome.
Brilliant guy- the Alaska Native Land Claims Settlement Act was one of the great accomplishments of Alaska's history, but I feel like the state really lost a great progressive leadership talent to the all consuming monster of corporate values.
Oil does that.
