JAB said...: I was just speaking with a WWII bomber pilot, very genial, healthy old fellow, 25 missions, and more impressively, 12 years in the Peace Corps. More on that later, but I noticed Spencer's mentioning the beauty of the Spitfire (note he'd transferred in from P-51s, no shabby flier itself). I've rarely talked to a pilot who didn't mention the beauty, or lack thereof, of their aircraft.
