Seattle ________ Cease to Exist

Professional football ceased to exist in Seattle Monday night, as the ______ flamed out of existence in a burst of improbable events which, though entertaining, stopped being football at ca. 0:28 remaning in the fourth quarter. The ______ then collectively disappeared in a giant puff of smoke, possibly teleporting to a new dimension in which they will torment the Pfthartegs of Sima IV with their antics, or possibly joining a religious cult in Japan.

A. Bartlett Giamatti once said "of course baseball breaks your heart, that is its job."

The _______, during their tenure on this plane, played as if they couldn't bear baseball having all the fun.

We wish the _______ and their new Pftharteg consituency well.

At least we got to see Jerry Rice and Edgar Martinez. I owe Mr. Rice a great load of apology. I doubted he had anything left to give on the field. I was completly wrong. As for the ____________, what can be said?

I don't understand this. "Professional football ceased to exist on Seattle?" I can't recall there ever being a professional football team in Seattle. Do you mean the Sonics? That's basketball; besides, it's a little early in the season to write them off.

Why do we owe Jerry Rice an apology? He's been out of the league since midseason -- I don't see him on the roster of any NFL teams at the moment...

No, No, what I meant was I saw Jerry Rice and Edgar Martinez at a Thunderbirds game. They said they were happy out of football and that they were glad they finally found a major city without a football team to live in.

I believe the song of death has herein been played.

For some reason, heart rending defeats are easier to take on the radio.
