Not Really an Excuse
POTUS on the radio today pointing out that the impact area was the size of Great Britain.
True, true. But if a devastating hurricane hit Great Britain, do you think they might have positioned some resources to be of assistance around, say LONDON?
I think we're on day 6 here, and there are still people in New Orleans who have not received basic first relief. We've got airborne divisions with helicopters and C-130 paradrop-capable cargo planes stationed in Texas. Any reason they haven't shown up (the 82nd is not in Iraq)? (Oh, there they are, nevermind. Better late than never, I guess.)
Speaking of England, if you were in a truck in England and could drive in a straight line to New Orleans at 60 MPH, it would take you about 3 days to get there.
Or, if you were in Washington DC, and drove a truck full of food and water real slow with lots of breaks - maybe 180 miles a day - you'd be in New Orleans within 6 days.
Which raises a question: WHAT THE FUCK!?!
You can find the formal gameplan here. Step #1 ("Prevention/Deterrence/Prevention") went ok, but it started to break down at Step #2("Emergency Assessment/Diagnosis") and utterly failed at Step #3 ("Emergency Management / Response"). In the revised version of this document, Step #4 is "spin your ass off."
And to the guys posting the blog spam in the comments: no thanks, my penis is already enormous.
Thank you.
