Whither Eisengeiste?
Here's what blogger says about switching team blogs:
"In the previous version of Blogger, the team member who originally created a blog could be removed from the team. This is not possible in the new version of Blogger, where each blog must have an owner who cannot be removed. Thus, a new owner is assigned to these blogs.
Where there is only one admin member on the blog, that person becomes the new owner of the blog after they switch to the new version of Blogger. If there are multiple admins, then the last person to switch becomes the new owner. The other members will still have admin rights, but the new owner will be the permanent member and owner of the blog. So if you have a team blog that fits this description (i.e. the original creator is no longer part of the blog) you can coordinate among your members to decide who will take ownership of it."
So, if we want the FSL back, I guess we all have to get Google Accounts and go to the blogger homepage and switch. We can all stay admins but the last one to switch will be the owner.
The question is, do we want to do that? Or is now the time to move Eisengeiste to different software, like TypePad or WordPress?
Some of us might not want to be Google based because of concerns that Google might be evil or might be eavesdropping or that relatives in Vulcania might get targeted by the secret police.Comments, please.

The question I'd ask is who would host it? Is there a commercial hosting concern that would stand up to rigorous scrutiny of their social responsibility? Would we jump ship again if they fell too low in our esteem?
I'm inclined to stick with Google for another reason: they're less likely to be blocked at my office.
I up for trying something else provided someone has a good alternative. However, I am also fine with staying put if we decide to do so.
An advantage of staying is the easy access to the history - we have several thousand posts at this point, and a better reservoir of wit, grit, nit, verve, nerve, gerve, berve and churlishness I never did see.
After an irritating morning, I seem to be able to post and manage fine now, so its not a rush.
After creating a Google account, I too am able to post.
Although the whole "google account" thing makes me feel...
Well, a bit like the Eye of Sauron is apon me.
you know, you need not look further than your friend the popmonkey.
i already run a few wordpress setups on the famous popmonkey servers. just say the word and i shall set up one for the isengard.
that word is "$10 plus a serving of hot buttered rum and possibly a blowjob".
~pop (less evil than google)
Would we be able to retain the gerve, berve, and nit of our archives?
I am all for popmonkey generous offer...can we find a way to transfer archives and redirect searchs?
that i do not know, sea lard. my suggestion: i set up said blog. this one is still the master. the fine intelligencia of this gathering then reads a fucking manual. wait, what am i saying! :)
a search on google reveals that blogger archives can be easily transferred to wordpress 2+
I can handle the $10 and the hot buttered rum. Don't remember what else was required but one of y'all else can handle the rest.
