Somethingawful's servers were in New Orleans, so its content was knocked offline. They tried to raise some money for New Orleans relief efforts using PayPal. PayPal froze the account, for reasons that are unclear.

Result: Huge negative advertising for PayPal.

I think this is going to be the standard playbook reaction to arrogant corporate behavior. Modern management theory says you should discard your most unprofitable customers (hint: processing complaints costs money). The appropriate consumer response is to post the complaint publicly in as many forums as possible.
