End of the era

Hasselbeck is gone.

(Not dead, just not playing for the Seahawks anymore.)

I guess not!

Unfortunately Matt Leinart was available, and is now reported to be heading for the Seahawks, as well.

Oh no! It turns out my dreams of having Tarvaris Jackson, Charlie Whitehurst, and Matt Leinart on the same team are not yet a reality! Fortunately, it's still possible.

Art Thiel describes this as "minimal swoonery."

You'd have to say Hasselbeck was the greatest Seahawks quarterback ever, right?

Shame they can't keep him around, though with his health issues I suspect it was going to be a tough negotiation for a team that's trying to get younger.

Yes, Hasselbeck is the greatest Seahawks quarterback, ever, by a wide margin (unless you count Warren Moon's career before Seattle).

Today's news revealed some insight into why he's gone: a 3-year, $21-million contract with the Titans.

I happy for him that he was able to command this, but I'm relieved it wasn't Seattle that gave it to him.

Agreed. Hasslebeck will always be the quarterback that took the Seahawks to the big game.

I just hope they put some of that savings into the O-Line.

The Titans? So Jake Locker might be backing him up? Harsh!

Yeah that sounds like a really good pickup. It is promising that the Raider's fans are already complaining that they let him go.

And now: Sidney Rice! If they re-sign Mebane, this is looking really good.
